UPDATE! The Finepix Real 3D System has been unofficially released and has been spotted for sale! Check out the my blog update below to find out how you can be one of the first to get your hands on this piece of technological wonder.
Fujifilm has just released the first ever digital camera capable of displaying 3d images, the Finepix Real 3D W1. The best part about this camera is that you do not require any special 3D glasses. You can view the 3D images right on the large LCD display, or you can purchase FujiFilm's picture viewer that compliments the camera, the Finepix Real 3D V1.
Aside from the new 3D mode, there are also some new features that can be applied to the 2D mode. For instance, you can use the 2 lenses to take two photos at once. By doing this you can create some spectacular panoramas or you can take two individual pictures and test out different settings on each lense.
Prices and release date have not been formally announced for North America, but UK sources have reported that they will see the camera and picture viewer hit the shelves in September with a price of $960 US for the Finepix Real 3D W1 and $640 for the Finepix Real 3D V1 picture viewer. If you don't want to purchase the picture viewer, you can email your photos right to Fujifilm and they will print them for $5 per picture.
Despite the UK price release, it has also been reported that the Finepix Real 3D W1 will sell for 60,000 Yen (about $650), so we'll have to wait and see. These are just initial reports, so the price may be lower once the release date gets closer.
